Tuesday through Friday - After 10 minutes of typing each day we discussed more issues about Internet Safety for Kids.

Monday - Today we will begin a lesson called "using the internet for good".  Browse the 3 websites below that reveal the dangers of DHMO. Be ready to answer questions about this lethal compound at the end of class.

Tuesday - Friday - students practiced typing for the first 10 minutes, then we started a new topic: video game design and construction. 

1. Go to www.gamestarmechanic.com
   
2. Create an account with the username as your initials and id # "jt1003432", password the same one as you use to log into your account here at school.
3. Complete the security test, then watch the Intro for the game.
4. Complete each "Mission" and earn the "Sprites". You will use these later to create your own video game.

Monday - Today we practiced our typing on MicroType. Students who have more than 30 GWAM can play NitroType; those who don't must go through the lessons to learn the correct way to type each letter.

Wednesday-Friday - Students started by taking a 3 minute typing test with "Writing 03". Then students opened Word and played "Ribbon Hero 2" for the rest of the period, accumulating as many points as possible.

Tuesday - Today students finished their "Zoo" projects from last week, and turned them into the "Courses" folder. When finished, students practiced typing with the timed writing "Writing 3" in Microtype (5 minutes). This will be completed for a grade first thing tomorrow.

Monday - Students used the "save as" feature to save just the animated slide(s) to a new file called "Animated Creation" and set it up to automatically play and "loop continuously". Then we took a field trip to the zoo, walking around to view the animations that were created by other students. Each student voted for their 5 favorites.

Wednesday-Friday - Today students continued to work on their finished product for Dwyer Zoo;

• File must be named "Dwyer Zoo", and saved in your Computers II folder in your H: drive
• You must have at least 2 caged animals (on two separate slides, each with name) video
• You must have at least one animated slide show how an animal came to be (make the name of the animal appear at the end of the slide)
• Set up the slideshow to run on its own, and loop continuously - watch video.

Tuesday - Today students used animations to show how their animals were magically formed.

Monday - Today we built cages for our animals, using the Arrange tools in PowerPoint. Watch the video here for details on Aligning & Distributing.

Friday - Students created a "squalcon" or "elephinkey" today for Dwyer Zoo.

Wednesday & Thursday - On these days, Mr. Dwyer demonstrated tips and tricks for manipulating illustrations (clip art) quickly and easily (Mr. Dwyer created a Tiger-Eagle, or "Tigle"). Then students created their own animals for "Dwyer's Zoo", using PowerPoint.
